A Year of Kairos Opportunity!

opportunity

The Holy Scriptures, the 66 books of the Bible, which I believe to be the inspired, authoritative, inerrant and infallible Word of God, give guidance for both the greatest and the seemingly lesser issues of life.

Apostle Paul exhorts us to be very observant about all matters in life:

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15-16 NIV)

I love it when great men and women of God give attention to detail. They are the real achievers. In sports and entertainment, the greatest achievers work meticulously and methodically to master  the details. That´s what separates the great from the mediocre, even in the Kingdom of God.

Paul tells us to be “very careful” how we live!

And he puts this into the context of evil days….

We must simply be wise!

However, under these circumstances we are also facing the greatest opportunities!

The word that many Bible translations render correctly in a lexical sense – “time” – is the Greek word “kairos”. But “kairos” means more than just “time”. I love that New International Version renders this as “OPPORTUNITY”!

So in the midst of difficulties, evil days, challenges – there is great OPPORTUNITY!

2015 is a year of KAIROS-OPPORTUNITY!

The Free Dictionary says that opportunity means

1. A favorable or advantageous circumstance or combination of circumstances.
2. A chance for progress or advancement, as in a career.

And they quote Eleanor Roosevelt, a woman who stood by her husband´s side – Franklin D. Roosevelt – the President of USA during World War II, and a man who was crippled by polio. Mrs Roosevelt was an achiever against many odds:

“If you prepare yourself … you will be able to grasp opportunity for broader experience when it appears”.

I believe that we are all created by God with tremendous potential. If we grasp and make the most of our opportunity, we will be able to achieve tremendous things.

Let´s “make the most of every opportunity”, like Apostle Paul said, in 2015 – A YEAR OF KAIROS OPPORTUNITY!
